The Initial Post

I started this blog from a desire to "give back" and make a contribution to the avocation I have grown to absolutely love. In my mind, there is no other place to be than in a high school gymnasium (or college stadium if you do that level) on a Friday night. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the feel of the wood beneath your feet-all permeate my being with excitement. For so many in America, high school athletics holds fond memories. Scores of citizens can recount stories of their "moment in the light" with enthusiasm and passion.

Being on the floor, wearing the uniform of an official, is an avocation worth doing. And, it is worth doing well. Many of you who will participate on this blog, along with myself, will have an understanding of the joy and satisfaction created within, knowing you "called a good game ref!" Getting the calls right, and knowing you got them right, will enhance not only your self satisfaction, but will help elevate the game in every venue in which you work.

I invite you to visit back, on occasion to read articles, interviews, and posts from officials who are dedicated to getting the call right. I encourage all who read this blog-spend time on the details of officiating. Read the rule/case book every year. Work on your mechanics, make them as sharp as you know how to be. Pay attention to your physical health. And, by all means, strive with me every game you are in to, "Get The Call Right!"
